- Treat all fairly – Treat all people fairly, respect their privacy and dignity, be
helpful and courteous.
- Put things right when they go wrong - Put things right quickly and effectively;
learn from complaints; and have a clear, well publicised and easy to use complaints
procedure, with independent review wherever possible..
- Use Resources effectively – Use resources effectively to provide best value for taxpayers
and users.
- Innovate and Improve – Always look for ways to improve the services and facilities
offered, particularly the use of new technology.
- Work with Other Providers – Work with other providers to ensure that services are
simple to use, effective and coordinated and deliver a better service to the user.
- Provide user satisfaction – Show that your users are satisfied with the quality of
service they are receiving. i.e. feedback from parents, Governor meetings.
- Fulfilling these criteria is not enough though – the school has to show the Charter
Mark assessors that it is actively trying to improve the high standards that it has
already achieved, and so try to guarantee the highest possible level of service to
the wider community.
There are ten basic criteria that a school must fulfil in order to receive Charter
Mark status. A few of the key criteria are listed below.
The Charter Mark is awarded by the Government for excellence in serving the public.
In the case of a school, the ‘public’ refers to the parents, pupils and the local
community.
Gosden House School was awarded the Charter Mark in the year 2000
