Contrary to most systems which look for conformity, we believe an effective specialist school like Gosden House allows all the individuals within it to shine.

Our Charter

• We  wish to achieve the highest quality of teaching and education  for all the young people who represent our unique community.
• We wish to provide a caring structure, which supports individuals and enables them to develop self-awareness, self respect and confidence to communicate and co-operate with others.
• We wish to respect the intrinsic worth of each person and value opinions and human rights.
• We  wish to create an ordered community, with  rules based on boundaries created by consideration for others which recognises the rights and  responsibilities of the individual.
• We wish to share experience through the natural support offered by the dedication of our staff and our commitment to the children in our care.
• We wish to release the power of the human spirit to overcome problems and to achieve peace and serenity within a difficult and turbulent world.

Why Gosden?

• It is a difficult decision to transfer a child to a special school.  A series of imperatives influence and affect how successful the responses of a child are to the new environment.  We understand how bruising the system can be for these young people and their families.  It is important that Gosden is seen as a calm and peaceful environment that really cares about you and your child.
• The first task is to put trust back into your child's life.  It is essential that children feel safe, secure and happy.  Without these precious ingredients, learning and progress are stifled.
• Happy children learn effectively and overcome blocks to progress by learning avoidance strategies and developing self-esteem and positive self image.
• By creating a focused community, Gosden House maximises resources and helps as many children as possible access a broad, relevant and meaningful educational experience.
